Event description: 

Anand Gopal is a professor in Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict at Arizona State University. His field work is conducted primarily in Syria and Iraq, where he studies anti-state mobilization and rebel governance. He completed his doctorate in sociology, focusing on civil war and state formation in Afghanistan, at Columbia University. He’s a fellow at the Nation Institute.
