Martijn Vlaskamp

Martijn C. Vlaskamp is a researcher at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI). He holds a PhD in “International Relations and European Integration” from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In his work he focuses on the financing of armed conflicts through the illicit trade in natural resources. Martijn’s dissertation has analyzed the policies of the EU regarding the illegal trade in diamonds, minerals and timber. During his stay at OCV he wants to continue with this research and study more broadly policies that seek to curtail trade in conflict-financing commodities.
